A quest to find inspiration!

The other week our summer staff went on a little field trip to the new Calgary Science Centre. We want to start creating interactive displays and games for when we have more public presence. We knew the Science Centre would have tons of great ideas on how to present information in a fun way. Although we may have gotten a little distracted by the water display, digital design centre and the discovery dome. A very fun and inspirational day nonetheless!

As the Sierra Club grows momentum we will appear at more public events, but instead of just giving you a flyer we want to make it more exciting with tables and booths full of creative games and activities. However, it won’t be your typical game of trivia – thanks to the Science Centre we have many exciting ideas on how to get you engaged. Now, all you have to do is stay updated and come out to some Calgary events!

While we were on this field trip we were pleasantly surprised to see how much the environment was promoted. And despite it being the first day of the Stampede there were plenty of kids finding out how much energy is used to power a computer, a blender, or even a light bulb. When you unplugged certain items you could see your energy consumption go down.

We also got lost playing with a weather cam rewinding the clock to a day in the past to see what the weather was like. What a great way to get people (not just kids) to appreciate the outdoors! Overall it was an incredible experience and we cannot wait to start implementing our ideas. Check back to see when you can play our awesome games or shoot us your ideas in the comments below!
